Blum Center Update - Spring 2020
Dear Blum Center friends and affiliates,
We hope that you have had a moment to catch your breath after these challenging weeks. We wanted to briefly share how the Blum Center is responding to the COVID-19 virus. First, we are continuing to work on several of our key initiatives remotely. These include our new podcast - Power to the People, and completing the Global Citizen's Guide for the Green New Deal, which will provide an overview of what the GND is, how it came about, who is for/against it, how it is being used by different stakeholders, and why it all matters for poverty, inequality, and democracy.
Second, we are transitioning our key Spring events online. Notably, we are working on a virtual Poverty Action Day later in Spring quarter focused on youth and inclusive democracy. We also plan to hold an information session for the Minor in Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice in April.
Lastly, we want to keep you connected to the latest research, resources and engagement opportunities related to poverty, inequality, and democracy during these extraordinary times. We hope to fill the gap from cancelled public lectures and campus workshops by providing virtual events, as well as online resources to stay informed (such as our podcast, and more frequent newsletter editions with highlighted readings and resources).
Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions for how the Blum Center can help you feel connected to a community of peers who want to stay informed and active on issues of poverty, inequality, social justice, and democracy, wherever you're logging in from.
Thank you and take care,
The Blum Center Team
