In April, the UCSB Blum Center launched our Spring Quarter campaign, "Social, Not Societal Distancing." In this extraordinary time, we are highlighting inequalities being exposed in this pandemic (nationally and locally), groups being overlooked and/or underserved in this pandemic - and why, as well as what individuals, organizations, and movements are doing to address inequalities, and how you get can get involved. Through this campaign, we underscore the importance of both short and long term action to adequately respond to this crisis. This includes meeting immediate needs, but also addressing historical gaps in current policies and systems (e.g. health services, food services, workplace safety policies) rising to the surface in this pandemic and creating unequal outcomes. How can we "open" society, the economy, and the environment in a way that doesn't lead us down the same uneven path? Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to keep up to date with stories, resources, and facts related to this quarter's campaign!
