When the data is incomplete, it is hard to prioritize information, funding, and services to those who need it most. Throughout this week we have shown the importance of collecting data representative of all facets of society, particularly for the most at-risk populations. A just and inclusive democracy requires accurate data that reflects society in all its diversity, ensures all people are represented, and draws attention to systemic inequities that must be addressed. Accurate and fully reported data, however, is just the first step. We hope this information campaign provides a foundation for thought, reflection, and action to address the unequal impacts of COVID-19, as well as these longstanding systemic barriers that have contributed to, and amplified, the disparate impacts we see today.
