The Blum Center is looking to support student-led projects that will take action to address hunger, houselessness, and/or homelessness, domestically or abroad. We will provide five grants of up to $1000 for projects that will take place in the 2018-19 academic year. Examples of potential projects might include those focused on promoting awareness, engaging in local advocacy, and conducting research, among others. Successful applicants will also receive the support of Blum Center resources and staff (i.e. printing facilities, working space, faculty networks) to support the implementation of their projects throughout 2018-19.
Unsure where to start?
The Blum Center will hold a brainstorming session on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30PM in RM 2320 in Girvetz Hall, to bring together interested students to discuss project ideas and seed prospective teams (though a team submission is not required) over pizza and snacks. Please RSVP with Joanne Nowak, Academic Coordinator of the Blum Center: joanne.nowak@ucsb.edu
